Puppies 2014

Announcing New 2014 Puppies

Jennie Behles has good news about puppies due to arrive on Nov 21, 2014:

“Ahmar Nahr goes back to its Astarte roots”

Halle has been bred to Ch Astarte’s Brave Scout. Halle was a Top Ten Hound in Canada and a Top Ten Basenji in the USA in both breed and group points as well as the Canadian national champion. Scout was bred by my original breeder and longtime breeding partner, Stella Sapios, from the Santa Barbara, CA area. I went out there the weekend of Sept 19-21 and had a beach-side holiday breeding Halle and Scout.  Three perfect long ties were done every other day after a perfect progesterone test here.  Both were “virgins”. This was the weekend of the annual “Beer Fest” and the “Surf Fest” at Ventura where we stayed on the beach.  I think all the beer and surf parties marked an auspicious event!

Scout is similar in breeding to my old Top Dog Siete who was absolutely perfect until the hour of his death. Siete had 15 years of perfect health, having had only one slight poisoning event all those years. Siete had top dog status in conformation and coursing in the USA and Canada and he was my first BIS dog.

Halle, as you know, is a special girl and has always been Sergio Espejo’s favorite. Sergio is going to try to get her back in shape for Westminster 2015 as she has previously gotten BOS and an AOM there. He is going to keep her and the pups for me when I go to Chicago for my surgery in Dec and keep up that socialization. This will be the third litter Sergio has been involved with.
